Latest Laptop Hard Drive Choices June 2006
It always amazes me how much more storage seems to be placed on Hard Drives in a smaller and smaller package. The most recent product from Toshiba is one that puts almost 180GB in a square inch — a billion bits of data is one GigaByte.
Seagate announced a hybrid drive for laptop computers that combines 160GB of disk storage with 256MB of flash memory. The flash memory will allow the laptop; to boot up in ten seconds, which is much faster normal boot times. I suspect that this type drive will be important when the New Microsoft Vista OS arrives.
